Jessica L. Nelson, Associate

Jessica Nelson is inspired as an attorney by the merger between law and finance. She was born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago and primarily practices in Cook County, but has also appeared on cases in DuPage, Lake, Will and Kane counties. She acknowledges the importance of making herself available to clients through strong follow-up, providing vital reassurances at a time that can be both challenging and uncertain. Understanding multifaceted financial issues are at the forefront of her professional skill-set. She has a certification in taxation and excels at breaking down the financial strategy of divorce in clear and concise terms for her clients.

Representing all aspects of litigation for cases involving divorce, custody, child support and other family law-related issues, Jessica is highly skilled in auditing financial statements and accounts to ensure a fair and equitable financial result is reached in the cases she represents. She is an exceptional negotiator and has successfully handled complex financial motions in court, often on an emergent basis. When it comes to matters involving child custody, Jessica is well-versed in interacting with child custody experts, litigating in the best interest of the child, and in international custody dispute resolution under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.

Understanding the emotional, legal and financial implications of divorce, Jessica works diligently to keep the lines of communication open with her clients. She strongly believes in a team mentality, and that the highest level of service and representation can be achieved through collaboration and connection with resources throughout the entire firm.

Jessica serves as Secretary for the Young Professionals Board for Deborah’s Place, the only women’s shelter in Chicago that works to alleviate homelessness for women.
