Molshree Sharma (“Molly”) is a savvy, accessible, aggressive and sensitive family lawyer who advocates on behalf of her clients who are facing a variety of challenges due to an impending divorce or post decree matter.
Her expertise is in working with business owners, professionals such as doctors, lawyers, athletes and/or individuals of high net worth who are grappling with the complex financial implications of ending their marriage. A substantial portion of her professional skills relate to handling complicated family law matters that require high-level financial experience with assets in real estate, investment accounts, business valuations, tax and retirement benefits. Recognizing that divorce itself is just one aspect of what is oftentimes overwhelming and frightening for clients, Molly successfully works with her clients to develop strategies to resolve their case, which includes interaction with professional experts.
Molly is extremely successful at resolving custody matters, or if required, litigating them with sensitivity in Court. She collaborates with experts and has a deep understanding on how to present her clients’ needs and the best interests of the child. Molly also has a special expertise in handling international custody disputes and Hague Convention cases, a treaty with more than 90 signatory countries which resolves issues of child abduction and jurisdiction.
As the daughter of a high-ranking diplomat, Molly traveled the world as a young woman and developed a passion for international family law. Molly has published two Illinois Bar Journal Articles about support awards for children over majority age or with special needs, and maintenance in cases where a party is an immigrant. She has published an article for the Family Law journal of the American Bar Association on financial considerations in second marriages as well as a chapter in the book, Strategies in Family Law. She has also published a chapter in the Springer series of books on the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of Child Abduction in which family lawyers all over the world have contributed. Molly has given lectures in Washington D.C. for other lawyers, parents and professionals on international custody matters. Over the last several years, she has organized three conferences in India on the Hague Convention on Civil Aspects of Child Custody, as well as one in Ethiopia for young diplomats. She gave a lecture in Brazil in 2017 on international family law and her chapter in the Private International Law Journal is pending publication.
Molly has received the Illinois Super Lawyer (“Rising Stars”) award for the years 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017. She also received the Leading Lawyers (“Emerging Lawyers”) for 2015, 2016, 2017 and Emerging Women Lawyers for 2017. Molly has received recognition in the Chicago Bar Association pro bono week, the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Distinguished Service Award and the Cook County Department of Corrections volunteer award.
